DaCapo goes to Indonesia!
18th November 2017

Rachel Groves, Senior Teacher

Rachel Groves has been teaching Double Bass and Early Years at DaCapo since leaving school in 1996. Prior to this she was herself a DaCapo pupil and then went on to study bass at the Royal College Junior Department (as DaCapo didnít cater for older advanced students at that time) and Music at Middlesex University.

Over the years Rachel worked on having a strong bass department at the Family Music Centre Ė an average of eight basses at any one time! James Opstad has now taken on most of the bass department and Rachel continues with the Early Years and one or two of the youngest bass pupils.

Rachel helped to develop the DaCapo Baby and Toddler music programme which has now been tried and tested in a variety of settings. She also contributed to the DaCapo toddler songbook and has written and co-written several of the songs in it.

Having enjoyed teaching music in schools for DaCapo over many years, Rachel trained in Primary Education and is currently working as a Year 2 teacher in Malorees Infant School in Brent.

Rachel has two daughters who are happy DaCapo pupils.
