Gerardo Gozzi is a performer, conductor and composer. He studied at prestigious schools in Europe such as Accademia Chigiana in Siena, Accademia Romanini in Brescia, Royal College of Music and Royal Academy of Music in London. His eclectic training has deeply influenced his creativity.
Having started his music career as a clarinet and saxophone player, Gerardo’s fascination for the timbral potential of woodwinds consistently permeates his music as source of colour, in constant search for new expressivity. Performing on wind instruments, both as a soloist and in various formations, remains an important part of his musical life, as well as being the first exploration field for his compositions. Gerardo is also trained as a pianist and a conductor, which has enlarged his attention to harmony and use of orchestral formations.
Inspired from a young age by works of his father, an architect, he often tends to conceive of music as structure and space. His production is therefore naturally devoted to the creation of a sound environment, an acoustic space in which the audience can linger and evade reality. This increasingly became the distinctive element of his music. He is currently researching technical ways of creating the illusion of new and interesting spaces in sound in a doctorate course at the Royal Academy of Music in London.
Gerardo passionately teaches music to students of different levels and ages, devoting his energy and experience to educating people to love and understand the beauty of music of every kind.
